This week on Wednesday afternoon we were pleased to host one of our first Multiply Maths events provided by North Yorkshire Adult Learning. Parents and carers of our class 2 children came to school to join Mr Duffy and the class in making advent calendars together. Everyone had a fantastic time and it certainly started the Christmas season in school in style, with lots of glitter and smiles. It was lovely to invite families into the classroom and we will be finding more opportunities to hold similar sessions for all classes as the school year goes on. Also this week some of our KS2 children went to a very cold cross country competition at Boroughbridge High School. We were delighted that Daisy came first in the year 3&4 girls competition and Lara came first in the Year 5&6 girls competition. Well done girls! A huge thank you must also go to Mrs Burgess and Mrs Chester who accompanied the children and may only just have thawed out! I hope that you have seen the email inviting nominations for the role of Parent Governor. It’s an exciting time to get involved with shaping the strategic direction of the school.
Please read the information carefully and feel free to contact our Co-Chairs of Governors Jenny Crabtree and Kirstie Lowe at cog@dishforht.n-yorks.sch.uk if you have any further questions. The deadline for nominations is midday Friday 13th December.
Finally, I am delighted to share the news that Mr Ben Thomson has been employed to cover our class 3 for the Spring and Summer terms while Miss Ungerechts is on her maternity leave. Mr Thomson has taught the class for a morning already last Friday and thoroughly enjoyed starting to get to know them. You may also have seen him covering in Class 1 yesterday and today for Mrs Cawood. Miss Ungerechts will be doing a comprehensive handover the next few weeks and we are all looking forward to welcoming him to the Dishforth team
