Governor News & Updates

Welcome back to all our pupils old and new at the start of our school year.

During the summer as I am sure you are all aware, the school was the subject of extensive extension and refurbishment work which included a new heating and fire detection installation together with significant hall and staff room extensions and the replacement of our old outside classroom with a new double classroom, fitted out to modern educational standards.

Some would say that improvements of this nature were long overdue and necessary as our children numbers have steadily increased for the last ten years or so, and that is a valid argument but thankfully, we now have facilities of which we can all be proud. But we cannot rest on our laurels. Finance will continue to be difficult I am sure for a good few years to come and we have to continue striving to improve the environment in which our children are educated. Our next project will be the refurbishment of our toilet block in the main school and following that, we hope to tarmac our main playground area.

It is our intention to have a formal opening of our newly refurbished school at a date and time to be announced, but in any event prior to the October half term holidays, when we look forward to showing all our alterations to the community as a whole and at the same time inviting former pupils and staff to join in our celebrations.

All that has been achieved this summer was the result of our excellent building contractor Simpsons of York and the hard work of our teachers and staff who worked tirelessly to ensure the school was opened on time. Thanks also to the parents who kindly gave their time to put everything back again when the time came.

Teamwork. A lesson for us all.

 Kind Regards

 Jim Brown

Chair of Governors.
