This week I was finally able to visit the venue of our Class 3 residential and do my initial risk assessment and see the facilities. This year we will be going to the PGL Centre at Newby Whiske, the week after the Year 6 SATS. The accommodation, canteen and outdoor facilities are all of a very high standard and I know that the children will have a fantastic time and make memories that they will carry with them forever. The fact that it is in our immediate local area means that we do not have to pass the huge expense of coach travel onto parents, which I know will benefit a number of families.
Also this week we had serious drainage issues at KS2 meaning that Class 3 had to relocate temporarily to the village hall. Luckily the problem was successfully resolved and there was minimal disruption to the children’s learning.
Lastly, I wanted to share that I have had a few concerns raised about standards of driving in the school carpark and the road immediately approaching the arpark. The complaints have been around the speed that cars are travelling and also the mounting of pavements while reversing or turning. Please drive carefully and considerately at all times, it would be heart breaking for anyone, adult or child, to be injured.
