Headteacher’s Message
Another ‘jam-packed’ week this week. Year 6 started their Bikeability training, Class 2 went on a trip to
Hope Town, everyone started rehearsing for our production of Peter Pan and some of our Year 5&6 children
went to Great Ouseburn Cricket Club for a Striking and Fielding games festival. Yesterday we also started
a new project in school in conjunction with Thirsk Rotary Club. They are coming in to help us with an
exciting gardening project in school. The aim is create four raised beds, one for each class to make into a
class garden. Some of our green-fingered Year 5s have volunteered to lead the project and they got started
by clearing a patch of ground at the side of the EYFS classroom of weeds, rubbish, old tyres and reels to
prepare it for planting. They also did a fabulous job digging and moving the top soil ready for the beds to
be constructed. They will be writing to you all next week to ask for parent/carer volunteers to help and
also donations of any seedlings, plants or equipment. We are also looking (strange as it may seem) for any
old unwanted car hubcaps that you might have. We are hoping to paint and decorate them and turn them
into flowers to act as a colourful backdrop for our gardens. If you can help please speak to Mrs Lacey.
