As I come to the end of my first month in school, I wanted to take the opportunity to thank everyone for making me feel so welcome. Parents, carers, staff, children, governors and everyone in the village has made a real effort to help me settle in and I feel very thankful to be part of such a warm and friendly school community. On Monday this week I was lucky enough to see our wonderful KS2 children in action when we took them to the village hall to meet one of the Mayoral candidates. This was part of their learning about democracy and they did a fantastic job asking questions about the role of a mayor in York and North Yorkshire and the election process. The children were an absolute credit to the school with their thoughtful questions and excellent manners. I definitely think that we have some future politicians in our midst!
