Nursery Information

Welcome to our Nursery

At Dishforth we welcome children into our Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) class once they have turned 3. This is a mixed aged class for nursery and reception aged children.

Our EYFS class is run by our very experienced Early Years staff - Mrs Chaplin , a qualified teacher, who is supported by Mrs Hainsworth,  Miss Chedzoy and Mrs Rainbow.

Nursery sessions

Mornings Monday to Friday 8:45 to 11:45
Afternoons Monday to Friday 12:15 to 3:15
Full days Monday to Friday 8.45 - 3.15

Parents are able to choose which sessions their child attends nursery (subject to availability).
We do not offer wrap around care for nursery children, out of these hours.

Nursery Sessions and Funding

Nursery funding can be complicated, so we hope that you find the information below useful. If you require support with funding and hours then please get in touch with the school office, who will be happy to help.

Funded Hours

Funded hours are offered at our nursery the term after a child turns 3.

All 3 and 4-year-olds are entitled to 15 hours of government funded childcare, irrespective of family income level, benefits status or family circumstances. This is called the ‘Universal Offer’.

Working parents may also be entitled to an additional 15 hours (taking the total to 30 hours) through the ‘working parent entitlement’. This is called 'extended hours'.

Paid Hours

Subject to availability, we also offer additional paid hours.
£15 per 3 hour session.

These are for families

  • who wish to pay for their child to attend nursery for the short time between their third birthday and their funded hours starting the term after
  • who wish to top up their funded hours

If your child is using paid hours and will be staying over lunchtime there is an additional charge (please see below).

Nursery Lunches

If your child would like to stay for lunch, they are very welcome to do so.
They can have a school meal or bring in a packed lunch from home.
Nursery school meals cost £2.30 a day unless a child is entitled to free school meals.

To find out about eligibility for free school meals please follow this link

Additional lunchtime charges

If you are paying for additional hours and you would like your child to stay over lunchtime, we charge a supervision charge of £2.50 a day.

Transition into Nursery

We understand that starting nursery is an important milestone for families. To support this transition, children are invited to a free 1 hour settling-in session before they start. Extra transition sessions may be organised with Mrs Chaplin if needed.

If you would like more information, or to arrange a visit to our EYFS class, please contact the school on admin@dishforth.n-yorks.sch.uk or 01845 577206.

We very much look forward to welcoming you.
