Headteacher’s Message
Happy New Year! We have had a super new start to the term with everyone enjoying catching up with their friends after the Christmas break and getting nicely settled into their classroom routines. We have had a bit of a change to lunchtime provision, opening up the ’Goldfish Bowl’, our spare classroom, at lunchtime for some children to use for quieter calmer activities such as building and drawing and on the playground we are only having equipment for one sport each day and using more of the upper playground areas. This has been received extremely positively by the children, who are enjoying new and different opportunities to play together. Also this week our Year 3 and 3 children have started their National Curriculum swimming lessons at Thirsk pool. They had a super time and I can’t wait to see their skills improve over the coming weeks. This term we are delighted to welcome a trainee teacher from York St John University into school. Miss Sherry starts with us on Monday and will be with us for the term working in Class 1. I know that you will join with me in making her feel welcome over the coming weeks. As we start our new term, as usual, the teachers have produced class curriculum newsletters to let you know what the children will be learning. They can be found on the class pages of the school website. To access them please follow the links under the title of each class below.
