Headteacher’s Message
This year we are launching an exciting project to improve our facilities in school. As many of you know, our KS1 toilets (Mrs Cawood’s classroom) have not been upgraded for a significant period of time and are in dire need of modernisation. You may have gathered from messages I have given you since I started here at Dishforth, that our school budget is very challenging and we do not have significant capital to fund big projects such as this. I have tried in vain to get local authority funding, so the best option left for us is to fundraise. Our goal is to raise enough money to replace the toilets, sinks, taps, cubicles and the floor and wall coverings – around £9000. Could you help? I would very much like to get together a group of parents/carers who would be willing to help us make and implement a fundraising plan. This might include organising school events, seeking corporate sponsorship/donors or finding and securing grant funding. We might also be able to find people/local businesses who could donate materials for the project. No idea is a silly idea and every contribution would be hugely welcomed. I will be holding a meeting next Friday after celebration assembly in the hall to meet with anyone who is interested or who would like to be involved. This is a fantastic opportunity to work together as a school community to make a real difference to our school for the good of our children.
