Governor News & Updates

April 2016

Governor’s letter

Welcome back to school for the start of our summer term. I hope everybody had a good refreshing Easter break and is now looking forward to drier weather and light nights!

The start of this new term will see the school role at the highest it has ever been with ninety six children, including nursery attending. This of course presents its own challenges, but we welcome each and every one of them and look forward to all our children, new and old, enjoying their work and play.

The increased numbers will further stretch our limited building resources, a topic we, as governors, have been concerned about for quite some time. At this moment, we have bids in with the local authority to refurbish our toilet areas, extend the hall and adjoining classroom and replace the old outside classroom.

It will not be easy to secure this funding because as I am sure you are aware money is extremely tight in our region, as it is through most of the country. We are, as a school, extremely keen to be constantly striving to improve our children’s school learning and experience, and one of our key areas is indeed the teaching environment, so we will not be letting it rest.

At the same time, we have started work on our new outside area, which should be a great asset to the school for many years to come.

We, as a governing body, have recently strengthened our ranks with new young and enthusiastic governors, keen to play their part in the smooth running of the school, this complementing the strengths of our existing board gives us an excellent platform on which to build, over the coming months and years.

King Regards

Jim Brown

Chairman.
